Planting Instructions

1. Choose the Right Spot
• Sun: Full sun to light shade
• Soil: Well-drained soil is essential—daffodils dislike soggy ground
• Avoid areas that stay wet over winter
2. Prepare the Soil
• Loosen soil to a depth of 20–25 cm
• Mix in compost or well-rotted organic matter
• If soil is heavy clay, add sand or grit to improve drainage
3. Planting Depth & Spacing
• Depth: Plant bulbs 2–3 times their own height, usually 5-10 cm soil above the bulb
• Spacing: 10–15 cm apart
• Pointy end facing up
Tip: For a natural look, plant bulbs in relaxed clusters rather than rows.
4. Watering
• Water well after planting to settle the soil
• After that, natural rainfall is usually enough
• Avoid overwatering—bulbs rot in waterlogged soils
5. Care During Growth
• Allow leaves to remain after flowering—this helps feed the bulb for next year
• Only remove foliage once it turns yellow and withers naturally
6. After Flowering
• Remove the heads of old blooms to prevent seed formation
• Leave bulbs in the ground to naturalise, or lift and divide clumps every 3–5 years if flowering declines
7. Tips for growing in pots
• Do not let the bulbs get too warm, keep them somewhere cool (shady spot) until the leaves emerge then you can move out into the sun
